Osprey can be seen as they search for food over the waters of the Clywedog Reservoir.
They are clumsy looking birds with punk rocker scruffy hair. They hover, then dive steeply down onto the water, like sea eagles, to catch fish with their talons.
Also spotted today an elegant Wheatear and a dazzling Redstart.
Dan Y Coed has two weeks left for May, 2 in June and 2 in July – come and have you’re own “spring watch” holiday right here at Dan Y Coed. Long and short stays available. Only a 10 minute drive to the Osprey. And under an hour to the Dovey Osprey Project site.osprey
Well, I’ve felt inspired by the lovely spring weather and set to in the garden. Boarders and beds have been weeded and composted. The banks have been cleared and the war with bramble won!
Lots of lovely flowers in bloom. Primroses, the first wild strawberries, cyclemen, helibores, and pretty pink and purple flowers whose name evades me!
Project garden fence this week – a lick of dark oak preserve to keep it in good nick.
Deck chairs in the top shed – ready for reclining!
Fancy a spring break at Dan Y Coed? We’ve got a couple of 3 night breaks in April and a couple of weeks in May left available.

This photo shows the Arch near Devil’s Bridge. It was built by Thomas Johnes in 1810 to mark the golden jubilee of George the third. Recently, in order to preserve the arch, the road has been re-routed around it, rather than through it. There are many way marked trails from the car park here, with beautiful views to the coast out west and the hills in every other direction.[singlepic id=27 w=320 h=240 float=center]
